The gîte of Vézelay
The history of the Gîte de Foissy-lès-Vézelay begins 25 years ago, with a strong desire to help nature lovers discover the Morvan National Park.
“We decided to renovate an old barn on three levels to have enough space to accommodate groups of hikers and pedestrians curious to discover the regional park of Morvan, Avallon, Vézelay and the Vézelien area. The gite has all the comforts necessary for the a great stay: equipped kitchen, large living room with fireplace, 4 bedrooms … We also offer to accommodate your horses in stalls or in fields!” (says Nicole David, head of the gite)
Vézelay & the Vézelien
Famous for Saint Mary Magdalene’s Basilica and the hill listed as a World Heritage Site, Vézelay is the starting point for one of the main hiking trails and pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela. It is also a mandatory passage of the yearly walk from Auxerre to Vézelay. This is why our gite is particularly open and suitable for hikers. The Vézelien area and its surrounding villages and towns (Saint Père, Pierre-Perthus, Avallon …) promise you authentic architectures throughout your stay in the Morvan.
